Sitting Quiet

Sitting quiet is sometimes the best thing a person can do to heal. The hard part, when the rest of the world is exploding is to quiet the voice in your mind long enough to experience a moment of serenity. The Virginia Thurston Healing Garden is meant to be the kind of place that makes it easier to sit quiet.
They say, prayer is talking to God and meditation is listening to Him (or Her). The hardest part of listening is the loud voice in one’s head tends to drown out the soft voice of God or The Universe or whatever you want to call it. Finding a place that helps your mind go blank, if only for a moment, while you gather your strength and re-charge your batteries, is a place you want to find AND remember to visit as often as you can. Especially during those times the rest of the world is ‘exploding’.

It is not always easy to remember to take a few minutes for yourself and when you do remember, it is not always easy to find the time. And then there is the temptation to allow yourself to be distracted by a TV show or a ball game or a video game instead of equalizing your bearings.
Find a place that is easy to get to and you use for only one purpose… to be quiet for a moment. Then find an excuse to go there as often as you can and use that time to center yourself and be right with the rest of the world, your family, your job and your higher power (whom or what ever that is for you).
When you do that, you empower yourself to be able to change those things outside of you that you have the ability to change. You are more ‘OK’ with those things you cannot change and you will intuitively understand the difference between the two.

I’m also writing to make you understand what a notable discovery my cousin’s child went through visiting your site. She mastered a wide variety of things, not to mention what it’s like to have an incredible giving character to have others smoothly gain knowledge of certain tricky subject areas. You really surpassed our own desires. Thanks for churning out these warm and helpful, trustworthy, educational and as well as fun tips about this topic to Julie.
Great article. Waiting for more. Sitting quiet is sometimes the only thing I can do, not just because of breast cancer, but it seems to help almost any pain or anxiety I am in. Good reminder for me to take the time to meditate. I get so busy, I often just don’t ever do it. Thanks
A great post, thanks for taking the time to share, continued success to your site in the future!
What a lovely post. I have just discovered your site today and I will be looking forward to reading you from now on.
Hi, this is the first time I’ve seen your site and As both a coach and ex breast cancer patient I wanted to say how much I liked it. In my work I help people rebuild lives after cancer treatments and one of the hardest things it to stop the merry go round. So thank you for the quite garden.
Valuable info. Lucky me I found your site by accident, I bookmarked it.
